The civilian-led National Defense Forces (NDF) conducted a successful operation that led to the liberation of the village of Babinnis, just south of the rebel-controlled Infantry School. The operation was launched on Monday morning, when members of the NDF stormed ‘Ahrar Al-Sham positions, killing scores of militants and forcing them to retreat north to Infantry School. According to a military source, the duration of the firefight was 6 hours and 31 militants from ‘Ahrar Al-Sham were killed, while another 17 were wounded during this battle.
On the Handarat front, the Syrian Arab Army is now in complete control of the farms in the western part of the district after intense clashes this week. The SAA continues to push towards the Army Base that is located just north of the Sheikh Maqsoud District. While, the Handarat District remains a priority for the SAA, the city of Anadan continues to be the focal point for this large scale offensive in Aleppo; if captured, the rebels will ultimately face a substantially dissipated presence from this province.
As of Monday, the As-Safira District is under attack by ‘Ahrar Al-Sham militants, who are trying to cutoff the Syrian Arab Army’s main supply route to the province of Aleppo. Militants were successful during the advent of their offensive; however, since Wednesday, the SAA and NDF have conducted sweeping operations in Al-Barzaaniyya, Al-Zara’a , Bashkawi, Banaan Al-Hass, Kafr Akkar, and Al-‘Adnaniyya, recapturing villages lost to ‘Ahrar Al-Sham. Violent firefights are still ongoing in Aleppo, with the rebels focusing on the Khanasser countryside.
