On Friday afternoon in the Hama Governorate’s eastern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 66th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division – in close coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions) – imposed full control over two villages that are located along the Ithriya-Salamiyah Road.

The Syrian Arab Army’s 66th Brigade and their allies captured the villages of Jubb Al-Sa’ad and Rasm Al-Ammoun (including its imperative hilltop) after a violent firefight with the Islamist rebels of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham (largest rebel/Islamist group), the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) on Friday afternoon.

These two villages are located just south of the Ithriyah Salamiyah Road, which was constantly under threat by Islamist rebels and the so-called “Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham” (ISIS), who relentlessly attempted to make this roadway impassable.

With Jubb Al-Sa’ad and Rasm Al-Ammoun under their control, the Syrian Armed Forces have built a buffer-zone around Ithriyah-Salamiyah Road; this will allow them to reopen the road to the public because they no longer have to worry about Islamist fighters opening fire on the vehicles passing through the area.

This is a Civilized Place for Public Discussion

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

The topics discussed here matter to us, and we want you to act as if they matter to you, too. Be respectful of the topics and the people discussing them, even if you disagree with some of what is being said.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
