BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:10 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a powerful assault in the eastern districts of Damascus on Wednesday, targeting the last areas under jihadist control in Al-Qaboun and Jobar.

Backed by several airstrikes, the Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard and 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division stormed the Al-Qaboun and Jobar districts, inflicting heavy damage on the jihadist defenses.

Not long after launching the assault, the Syrian Arab Army took control of the Al-Siyarat Tunnel in the Al-Qaboun District, which was previously used by Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham to resupply their fighters in different areas.

Local activists are now reporting that the Syrian Arab Army is pushing into the Tishreen area near Al-Qaboun, putting them in position to enter this jihadist stronghold in eastern Damascus.
