The Syrian Arab Army’s 416th Regiment of the Republican Guard has been busy in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus as of late, pushing their way through these rugged poultry farms that ultimately lead to the Syrian capital.
However, these violent battles in the East Ghouta have paid off for the Syrian Armed Forces, as they have captured several sites that were almost impregnable a few months back.
On Thursday evening, the Syrian Arab Army’s 416th Regiment – alongside the National Defense Forces (NDF) and the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) – advanced at the village of Harsh Al-Salihiyeh in the East Ghouta’s southern countryside, killing over 15 enemy combatants while also capturing 6 members of Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) and Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group).
According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army’s 416th Regiment and their allies reportedly captured two high ranking commanders from Jabhat Al-Nusra and Jaysh Al-Islam during their military operations on Thursday night.
The source identified the two commanders as the following: “Abu Al-Yaman Al-Urdoni” (Jordanian) of Jaysh Al-Islam and “Abu Al-Dousiri” (Saudi)” of Jabhat Al-Nusra.
Currently, the Syrian Armed Forces are pushing north towards the Harasta Highway that is partially controlled by Jaysh Al-Islam and Jabhat Al-Nusra near the strategic city of Douma.
