DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:20 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their large-scale offensive in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus this weekend after the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Islam and Faylaq Al-Rahman violated the ceasefire agreement at Jobar.

Led by the Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Armed Forces launched a new assault at Al-Reyhan and the East Ghouta Signal Base, resulting in the capture of the farms located between the aforementioned sites in rural Damascus on Sunday.

According to a military source, the farms captured by the Syrian Arab Army today accumulate to approximately 350 meters of territory in the East Ghouta after a violent battle with the Islamist rebels.

The military source added that approximately 20 Islamist rebels were killed or wounded during the fierce battle near Al-Reyhan.

Most of the fighters from jaysh Al-Islam have now retreated to the town of Al-Reyhan, as they prepare for the upcoming attack by the Syrian Armed Forces.

“20 Islamist rebels were killed or wounded”
Shouldn’t count wounded as they are often quickly fixed up by Turkish or Israeli doctors, if not their own field hospitals, and then back in battle again.
