The recent deployment of the Syrian Arab Army’s 120th Brigade (2nd Division) to reinforce the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) at the strategically located city of Sadad has paved the way for the pro-government forces to make a series of advances in the Homs Governorate’s southeastern countryside.

On Sunday afternoon in southeastern Homs, the Syrian Arab Army’s 120th Brigade – in coordination with the Syrian Social Nationalist Party and the National Defense Forces of Sadad – imposed full control over the small village of Hawareen after an intense firefight with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).

As a result of their recent gains in southeastern Homs, the Syrian Arab Army’s 120th Brigade and their allies are now on the verge of entering the imperative town of Maheen, which has been under the control of the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham for the last 5 weeks.

The town of Maheen is integrally situated to the west of the ancient city of Quraytayn; if it is captured, they will be within striking distance of the aforementioned city that has been under ISIS’ control since early August of this year when they launched a massive assault in southeastern Homs.

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
