On Saturday morning in the Latakia Governorate’s northern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade of the Republican Guard – in close coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF), Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra (Desert Hawks Brigade), the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and Muqawama Souri (Syrian Resistance) – imposed full control over 3 different points along the Turkmen Mountains (Jabal Al-Turkmen) after a violent battle with the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA).

The battle in the Turkmen Mountains between the Syrian Armed Forces and the Islamist rebels took place just north of Durrah (village), where the pro-government forces endeavored to recapture the points they lost to Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Free Syrian Army last weekend.

According to a military source that is embedded in the Latakia Governorate’s northern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade and their allies seized Points 465, 489, and 547 in the Durrah region of Jabal Al-Turkmen; these aforementioned sites are also located along the route to the rebel stronghold of Al-Rabi’yah.

The Syrian military source added that the Syrian Armed Forces are steadily advancing north towards Al-Rabi’yah; however, they still have some obstacles preventing them from reaching the southern flank of the town.
