BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:45 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies have launched a fresh assault on the Islamic State’s (ISIS) defenses in occupied Albukamal, today, a military source told Al-Masdar News.
Led by the attack helicopters of the elite Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies pounded the Islamic State’s positions in Albukamal, inflicting heavy damage on the terrorist group’s defenses around the city.
The attack would also kill several Islamic State combatants, including three terrorist field commanders that led the counter-assault against the Syrian Army this weekend.
The dead Islamic State commanders were identified by a Syrian military source as Hani Al-Thalji, Abu Munzer Al-Shishani (Chechen national), and Abu Mohammad Al-Safi.
This latest assault by the government comes just hours after the Tiger Forces launched a powerful attack from Al-Mayadeen in a bid to reach Albukamal’s northwestern sector.
