ALEPPO, SYRIA (5:00 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army’s Republican Guard, backed by Liwaa Al-Quds (Palestinian paramilitary) and Ba’ath Battalions, launched a new military operation in east Aleppo on Friday, targeting the key district of Suleiman Al-Halabi, which is under the control of Fatah Halab.
On Friday, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to capture two building blocks at the western axis of the district; however, their attempt to advance to the water pumping station was ultimately repelled by the jihadist rebels after an intense battle that ended with a dozen Republican Guard soldiers killed-in-action (KIA).
According to an Al-Masdar correspondent, the Syrian Armed Forces attempted to advance inside the Suleiman Al-Halabi District last night, renewing their assault after a short hiatus.
The Suleiman Al-Halabi District is imperative to the Syrian Armed Forces for two reasons:1) the water pumping station and 2) its proximity to the rebel stronghold of Sakhour.
Clashes are still ongoing at the moment, with the Syrian Armed Forces attacking Fatah Halab’s front-line defenses at the western axis.
