DAMASCUS, SYRIA (11:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) carried out its first strike against the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in the eastern countryside of Aleppo today after mobilizing thousands of soldiers at the nearby Kuweires Military Airport.

Led by the Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army targeted the Islamic State’s defenses at the town of Al-Mazburah, killing and wounding over 15 terrorists during this powerful attack.

In addition to the Islamic State’s death toll at Al-Mazburah, the Syrian Arab Army’s Republican Guard forces also destroyed three technical vehicles that were armed with 23mm anti-aircraft machine guns.

While the attack did not net any territorial gains, the Syrian Arab Army was able to cause serious damage to the terrorist group’s defenses, which could pave the way for a more serious attack in the future.

Over the last 13 months, the Syrian Arab Army has managed to clear much of the eastern Aleppo countryside, forcing many of the Islamic State terrorists to withdraw to Al-Bab and Deir Hafer.

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
