BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:15 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched an important offensive in the eastern countryside of the Hama Governorate early last week.
Unlike their previous offensives that were geared at cutting off or securing a supply line in this part of Hama, the Syrian Arab Army’s high command decided to begin an operation to fully expel the Al-Qaeda linked Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham terrorist group from the province.
The Syrian Army’s primary target in this latest offensive is the HTS stronghold of Al-Rahjan.
Al-Rahjan is strategically located west of the Ithriya-Khanasser Highway, which is the Syrian government’s only supply line to the provincial capital of the Aleppo Governorate.
Since launching this offensive, the Syrian Arab Army has managed to capture several villages and towns, putting them at the outskirts of Al-Rahjan for the first time in years.
The Syrian Arab Army is now preparing to storm the nearby town of Shakousyah; once captured, they will begin storming Al-Rahjan.
