Just 48 hours after launching their full-scale offensive in Al-Zabadani, the Syrian Arab Army’s 1st Armored Division – in coordination with Hezbollah and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – has made huge strides west of the city.
Advancing from the village of Al-Bayda and Point 1715, the SAA’s 1st Division stormed the remaining militant strongholds and forced the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” to retreat from the Western Mountains to the outer edges of the resort city of Al-Zabadani.
With the capture of the Western Mountains, the SAA’s 1st Division and their allies have progressed to the Eastern Slopes, where they look to close-in on the remaining 1,000 meters to the city’s western entrance.
In the Qalamoun Mountains, Jabhat Al-Nusra attempted to sneak into the village of Jaroud Faleeta from the north; however, they were caught by NDF scouts, who assisted in the planned ambush of the enemy combatants .
As a result of the ambush by the NDF, 13 Jabhat Al-Nusra fighters were confirmed dead, including their field commander who could not be identified.
