DAMASCUS, SYRIA (6:10 P.M.) – Syrian Arab Army (SAA) alongside with allied paramilitary units continue their advance in eastern Homs countryside towards Deir Ezzor province.
On Sunday, units of SAA’s 5th Corps backed by Al-Quds Brigade (Palestinian paramilitary) and National Defense Forces (NDF) struck the positions of the so-called “Islamic State” east of T3 pumping station, with violent firefights having erupted as a result.
The assault proved successful as government forces had expelled IS jihadists from T3 surroundings after more than 20 hours of continuous fighting, while also seizing Daher Al-Himar area in the process.
More than 30 IS militants were neutralized, and a total of 112 square kilometres of territory were cleared of IS in the past 24 hours.
