BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:25 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their military operations in the western countryside of Palmyra on Thursday, targeting the Islamic State’s positions near the strategic T-4 Military Airport.

Led by the 800th Regiment of the Republican Guard and Hezbollah, the Syrian Armed Forces managed to push back the Islamic State militants towards the Shurifah Hilltop that is located near the T-4 Airport in eastern Homs.

According to a military source in the region, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah have reached the Shurifah Hilltop after fierce clashes with the Islamic State militants earlier today.

The Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah are now attempting to enter the village of Shurifah, where the Islamic State militants managed to withdraw to after the government units launched their preliminary assault this morning.

ISIS is attempting to regroup at Shurifah right now in order to launch a counter-attack agains the Syrian Arab Army; however, the relentless Russian airstrikes are preventing them from implementing their contingency.
