Earlier today, the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division – alongside the National Defense Forces (NDF) and the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) – resumed their assault on the Dara’a Al-Qadim (Jamrik) border post in the provincial capital’s Al-Manishiyah Quarter, striking the Islamist rebel defenses at the Old Customs Building.

According to a military source at the 5th Armored Division’s headquarters in the city of Izra’a, the Syrian Armed Forces have advanced to the Dara’a Al-Qadim border post this morning after spending the last two days attempting to bypass the Free Syrian Army’s last line of defense in the Al-Manishiyah Quarter’s southwestern neighborhoods.

If the Islamist rebels of the Free Syrian Army do not hold onto this border post, then they will most likely have to retreat towards the Jordanian border in order to evade the Russian fighter jets that are picking off their resupply convoys along the Dara’a-Irbid Road.

The Russian Air Force is reportedly bombarding the Dara’a-Irbid Road in an attempt to propel the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division to capture this last military post before the Jordanian border.

Meanwhile, south of Dara’a City, the Syrian Armed Forces are attempting to advance to another Jordanian border-post near the strategic hilltop of Tal Al-Baja – clashes are still ongoing between the government forces and the Islamist rebels.
