BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:55 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their military operations in the East Ghouta region of Damascus on Sunday, targeting Jaysh Al-Islam’s positions northeast of Hazrama village.
Led by the 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army struck Jaysh Al-Islam’s defenses at the Air Defense Battalion; this would result in a brief battle on Sunday morning.
Following a series of clashes at the Air Defense Battalion base, the Syrian Arab Army broke-through Jaysh Al-Islam’s defenses, seizing the entire military installation northeast of Hazrama village.
In addition to the seizure of the Air Defense Battalion, the Syrian Armed Forces also captured the storage facility located north of Hazrama after another brief battle with Jaysh Al-Islam on Sunday.
With the Syrian Army closing-in on Hazrama, the Islamist rebels find themselves with their backs against the wall near the Homs-Damascus Highway, as the government forces continue their wide-scale operations.
