BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:05 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed their offensive in the northern countryside of Palmyra this morning, targeting the Islamic State’s positions around the Al-Sha’er Mountains.

Following the liberation of gas wells 103, 108, 110, and 112 yesterday, the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Legion launched another series of attacks around well 105, resulting in a fierce battle that is still ongoing at the moment.

According to a military source in northern Palmyra, the Syrian Arab Army is steadily advancing this morning, liberating several points from the Islamic State militants.

Should the Syrian Arab Army take control of the remaining gas wells at the Al-Sha’er Mountains, they will be in position to cutoff one of the Islamic State’s important supply lines to the Al-Raqqa Governorate.
