BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:05 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their wide-scale advance in the Wadi Barada area of west Damasus on Monday, targeting the final rebel pocket near the Al-Fijah Springs and Deir Maqran.
Led by the 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Divison and Qalamoun Shield, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the jihadist-held Al-Fijah Springs in Wadi Barada, resulting in a long battle on Monday.
According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army’s 42nd Brigade managed to enter the Al-Fijah Springs area after breaking-through the jihadist rebel defenses.
Upon entering Al-Fijah, the Syrian Arab Army established fortifications around their positions in order to claim their stake in this area.
The Syrian Arab Army is now attacking the final jihadist positions in ‘Ayn Al-Fijah, hoping to expel Jabhat Fateh Al-Sham (formerly Al-Nusra Front) and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham by end-of-day on Tuesday.
