BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:20 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has made a huge push in the eastern countryside of Aleppo recently, liberating a large chunk of territory along the Aleppo-Raqqa Highway.

Led by the Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army managed to liberate two villages in the Maskanah Plain on Sunday, killing and wounding a large number of Islamic State (ISIL) militants in the process of this latest advance.

As a result of this advance on Sunday, the Syrian Arab Army has positioned themselves within 10km of the Islamic State’s last east Aleppo stronghold, Maskanah, which has long been under their control since 2014.

If the Syrian Army is successful in their endeavor to capture Maskanah, they will be able to expel the remaining Islamic State terrorists from the eastern countryside of Aleppo, while eventually reclaiming the southwestern axis of the Al-Raqqa Governorate.
