BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:45 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) made a big push in the Daraa Governorate, today, in a new bid to advance further west towards the Yarmouk Basin region.
Backed by heavy airstrikes from the Russian Aerospace Forces, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the rebel defenses at the large hilltop of Tal Saada near the town of Tafas.
According to a field report from the Daraa Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army was finally able to take hold of Tal Saada, following the withdrawal of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters to Tafas.
The Syrian Army then moved to secure Tal Saada after the militant withdrawal; they would declare the hilltop safe at approximately 6:30 P.M. (local time).
Tal Saada is located southeast of Tafas; it was used by the militants to launch heavy artillery and missile strikes on the Syrian Army troops that attempted to advance in the area.
The Syrian Army is now working to advance on Tafas from two different axes in order to force the rebels to ultimately retreat west towards the Yarmouk Basin region of west Daraa.
