BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:30 P.M.) – Amid ongoing operations by the Syrian Arab Army against besieged ISIS militants in rural Hama and Homs, another 7 villages within a wide land area have been liberated from terrorist control over the last twelve hours.
Today, the Syrian Army, advancing in countryside of north-central Homs, drove ISIS from the towns of Um al-Sos, al-Kharafesh, Rasm a-Arnab, al-Ghazelah, al-Rak, Um Huwysh and Safiyah, completely securing them.
In terms of land area, the Syrian Army liberated some fifty (50) square kilometers of territory from ISIS during the course of expelling jihadists from the aforementioned towns.
All towns are located to the northeast of the strategic Jib al-Jarrah area.
Moreover, this latest advance has put the Syrian Army on the outstirks of the Bilaas Oil Field, the largest oil production site in Homs Governorate, which has de facto remained under ISIS control due to the unwillingness of army forces to enter the site before fully surrounding it.
