Minutes ago, the Syrian Armed Forces launched a surprise attack in the northern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate, targeting the southern farms of Al-Mallaah that are under the control of the jihadist rebels.
An Al-Masdar field correspondent that is embedded with the Syrian Armed Forces in northern Aleppo reported tonight that the government units have reentered the southern farms of Al-Mallaah after withdrawing from them this past weekend.
The field correspondent added that the Syrian Armed Forces are currently at advancing at the Al-Mallaah Farms, seizing more than 75 percent of this key area that overlooks the Al-Castillo Highway in northern Aleppo.
The Al-Castillo Highway is strategically located just south of the Al-Mallaah Farms and directly north of the Aleppo Governorate’s provincial capital.
Last night, Al-Masdar News reported that a Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) convoy was destroyed by the Russian Air Force as they tried to make their way to the Al-Malaah Farms to begin a counter-offensive.
With Nusra wounded, the Syrian Armed Forces took advantage of this situation and began their own military operation to expel the remaining jihadists from the Al-Mallaah Farms.
Clashes are still ongoing at the moment; however, the Syrian Armed Forces are on the move and poised to capture this area.
The Syrian groups leading this battle at Al-Mallaah Farms are Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” and the local government militias, including the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Liwaa Al-Quds (Palestinian paramilitary).
