On Thursday afternoon at the Al-Raqqa Governorate’s southwestern border, the Syrian Arab Army’s 555th Brigade of the 4th Mechanized division – backed by the pro-government Palestinian militia “Liwaa Al-Quds” (Desert Hawks Brigade), Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra (Desert Hawks Brigade), and Fouj Al-Joulan (Golani Regiment) – imposed full control over the strategic hilltop of Tal Al-‘Alam after advancing along the Salamiyah-Raqqa Highway.
The Syrian Arab Army’s 555th Brigade and their allies began their assault on Tal Al-‘Alam during the wee hours of the morning when they struck the hilltop’s northwestern perimeter; this attack would last for nearly 8 hours before the Syrian Armed Forces would declare the site full liberated of all ISIS terrorists.
With Tal Al-‘Alam under their control, the Syrian Arab Army’s 555th Brigade and their allies are now within 4 km of the imperative desert-village of Marina.
In addition to their advance along the Salamiyah-Raqqa Highway, the Syrian Armed Forces also captured more hilltops near the village of Zakiyah; this aforementioned site in the Al-Raqqa countryside is the primary target for the government forces in this vast desert area.
The Syrian Armed Forces are expected to intensify their assault in the coming days, as more reinforcements from Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra pour into the desert-city of Ithriyah.
