On Thursday afternoon in the Homs Governorate’s southeastern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 120th Brigade of the 2nd Division – in coordination with the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Sadad – imposed full control over Jabal Al-Hazzm, Jabal Maheen Al-Kabeer, and Al-Kazeeya after an intense battle with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) near the strategic town of Maheen.

According to a military source at the T-4 Military Airport, the Syrian Arab Army’s 120th Brigade and their popular committees seized several hilltops located just 3km north of Maheen, leaving only the small village of Hawareen between their forces and the aforementioned town in the Homs Governorate’s southeastern countryside.

Earlier this week, Al-Masdar News reported on a massive wave of reinforcements arriving to the east Homs front in order to assist the Syrian Social Nationalist Party and the National Defense Forces attempting to recapture the town of Maheen from the ISIS terrorists; these reinforcements from the Syrian Arab Army’s 120th Brigade led the charge on Thursday afternoon.

With Maheen only 3km south, the Syrian Armed Forces have turned their attention to the small village of Hawareen, where they are currently attacking ISIS’ defensive positions at the northern flank.
