On Thursday morning, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) of Sadad – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Sadad and the Gozarto Protection Forces (Sootooro) – continued their advance to the town of Maheen after repelling an assault from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) outside of the recently captured hilltop of Tal Sinni in the Homs Governorate’s eastern countryside.
The counter-assault began this morning when ISIS attempted a VBIED (Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device) at the National Defense Forces’ checkpoint near Tal Sinni in the Sadad countryside; this terrorist attack was repelled by the Syrian Armed Forces.
Following this attempted terrorist attack by ISIS, the Syrian Armed Forces – led by the Syrian Social Nationalist Party – stormed the small hilltop at Al-Hazim Al-Awat, where they were met with fierce resistance from the terrorist group before they were able to impose full control of the hill.
The Syrian Armed Forces would follow-up this advance with an attack at the nearby hilltop of Al-Hazim Al-Awsat, killing several ISIS fighters and destroying a mounted machine gun before they were able to capture this hill located between the towns of Maheen and Sadad.
With five hills recaptured in less than 48 hours, the Syrian Armed Forces are steadily making progress towards the imperative town of Maheen after they lost it to ISIS last week; if it is recaptured, they will be in position to assault the ISIS-controlled city of Quraytayn, which was taken from the National Defense Forces in August of this year.
