On Wednesday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 20th and 128th Brigade’s of the 1st Armored Division – in coordination with Hezbollah and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – conducted another successful operation at the eastern slopes of the Qalamoun Mountains, capturing over 20 square kilometers of territory between the border of Lebanon and Syria.
Hezbollah and the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) began their assault around 6:45 A.M. (Damascus Time) on Monday morning, when a large contingent from the Lebanese Resistance and Syrian Armed Forces attacked the hills of Sha’abah Al-Tamseh and Wadi Al-Ahmar in Jaroud Jarajeer, killing a confirmed 27 enemy combatants from the Syrian Al-Qaeda organization “Jabhat Al-Nusra” before nightfall descended over this steep area in the Qalamoun Mountains.
Among the hills captured by the Lebanese Resistance and the Syrian Forces was Sha’abah Al-Tamseh – a hill that sits 2,400 meters above sea-level, while it overlooks Jaroud ‘Arsal from the eastern slopes of the Qalamoun Mountains in Jaroud Jarajeer.
In addition to their success at Jaroud Jarajeer, Hezbollah continued their campaign at Jaroud ‘Arsal in the Beqa’a Governorate, as the Lebanese Resistance overpowered the militants from Jabhat Al-Nusra at Ras Al-Kosh and Wadi Al-Qadoumi; this resulted in Hezbollah taking control of a large, uninhabited valley that was used as a campground for Al-Qaeda.
With the capture of 20 square km of territory in the Qalamoun Mountains, Hezbollah and the Syrian Armed Forces now control large swathes of territory stretching from the Beqa’a Governorate to the town of Jaroud.
