BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:40 A.M.) – The Syrian and Iranian delegations arrived at the Kazakh capital of Astana on Tuesday as they prepare to participate in the 11th round of peace talks.
Led by Dr. Bashar Al-Ja’afari, the Syrian delegation met with the Iranian team, chaired by Hossein Jaberi Ansari, ahead of Wednesday’s first session in Astana.
According to a government source, the two delegations discussed the current situation in Idlib and the opposition’s failure to implement the Sochi Agreement from September 17th.
The Turkish, Russian, and Syrian opposition delegations also arrived on Tuesday; they will be attending Wednesday’s session alongside the Syrian government and Iran.
This is expected to be the most important Astana Peace Conference meeting, as it will focus on the future of the Idlib province.
