DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:40 A.M.) – 100 days after Jabhat Al-Nusra merged with aligned groups, the newly formed Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) boasted a series of military achievements against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) since its inception.
In a brief ideographic video, HTS showed how many SAA armored vehicles it had destroyed. It also stressed that the jihadist group was responsible for 12 suicide bombings and had conducted 10 infiltration attacks behind enemy lines.
According to the media wing of HTS, the Al-Qaeda affiliated group had killed 850 SAA troops in little more than three months. In addition, 40 SAA attacks across the country had been repelled and 19 prisoners of war freed from government captivity.
Military sources based in Damascus told Al-Masdar News the HTS claims were grossly exaggerated and did not even match the total government casualties across all frontlines in 2017. The SAA is also heavily invested in battles against ISIS and other rebel factions.
