The Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) continued to pound the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) positions in the west Raqqa countryside on Wednesday night, striking the aforementioned terrorist group at several sites along the Salamiyah-Raqqa Highway.

These airstrikes by the Syrian Air Force proved highly effective as their ground forces in Ithriya were given a necessary reprieve from the Islamic State’s counter-offensive in the western countryside of the Al-Raqqa Governorate.

According to a military source at the Hama Airport, the Syrian Air Force specifically targeted the Islamic State’s positions at the village of Albu Allaj, along with the latter’s presence along the Tabaqa-Anbaj and Anbaj-Albu Allaj roads.

The airstrikes reportedly killed a large number of Islamic State terrorists, including several foreign combatants.

Where is Russia? Kerry promised not to do this. Foolish to trust the US again. Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Russia trust the US over and over again and gets stabbed in the back. Russians are smart, why are they letting these losses to occur? Did the pilots all go on holiday?

You played Far Cry 3 😉 Never trust an american. I think Putin is probably the only leader knowing what he’s doing in this sad story… In my language, we’d say “manier la carotte et le bâton” http://www.joellehuaux.be/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Business-Coaching-motivation1.jpg But he has to do it on all the actors… Just consider : SyAAF should have begun to receiv 36 Yak-130 trainers/light attack aircraft since 2013… The 1st one was only delivered in december 2015. With 3T of ordnance and modern systems, beeng subsonic, they’d outperform everything left of SyAAF. Have SyAAF Su-24M2 (the same RuAF has in Syria) been overhowled? Same… Read more »

Might had made a difference 3 days ago. Putin should just declare the negotiations a failure, rightfully blame the US, its allies and their proxy terrorists, and bring back the full force of the RuAF.

Iran’s help shall be limited to crush their salafist/wahhabist ennemies. Iran (or Hizbullah-proxy) shall have no say in the future of Syria : having friends spending holidays at your place is OK. Letting them here forever and partly or even decide how your house has to run, errr… would you be OK?

It’s not politics, it’s geo-politics and there are serious actors around, 2 of them being richer and with bigger military budget than Russia. If Russia really wants to support Syria, which means stabilizing rock-solid the country, this won’t work if they do as you say.
