BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) unleashed a large number of airstrikes over the southern and eastern regions of the Idlib Governorate last night.
According to a military source in nearby Hama, the Syrian Air Force conducted more than 20 airstrikes over the towns of Khuwayn, Khan Sheikhoun, Zarzour, Al-Ta’manah, and Sukeek.
These Syrian airstrikes were reportedly concentrated on the trenches and bases of the two rebel largest rebel groups in the area: Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and Jaysh Al-Izza.
The source added these airstrikes by the Syrian Air Force on Sunday evening marked the first time this year that they have conducted any strikes on these parts of the Idlib Governorate.
Since the Sochi meeting earlier this month, the Syrian military has intensified their attacks against the rebel groups in the Idlib and Hama governorates.
The Syrian military has chosen to increase its attacks in northwestern Syria as a result of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s recent expansion inside the Aleppo and Idlib governorates.
