On Sunday morning in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus, the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) dropped 160,000+ leaflets that read “surrender now, the Syrian Arab Army is coming” over Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) and Jabhat Al-Nusra’s (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) positions inside this agricultural area.
The Islamist rebel controlled cities of Douma, Harasta, Qaboun, ‘Ayn Tarma, Zamalka, and Jobar were the primary targets of this barrage of leaflets from the Syrian Arab Air Force in the East Ghouta yesterday.
While the Syrian Arab Air Force dropped thousands of leaflets over the East Ghouta, a local reconciliation committee entered the city of Qaboun in order to discuss the possibility of a permanent ceasefire that would end all hostilities plaguing this area of rural Damascus.
According to a military source inside the city of Jaramana, the delegates from the reconciliation committee discussed the terms of their proposal to the Jaysh Al-Islam commanders inside of Qaboun; however, the aforementioned Islamist group offered a counter-offer that will likely be mulled over by the Syrian Arab Army’s Central Command in the coming days.
Earlier this year, the Islamist rebels from Jaysh Al-Islam broke two of the ceasefire deals inside the East Ghouta cities of Barzeh and Harasta, leading to a violent battle between the aforementioned Islamists and the Syrian Arab Army.
