BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:35 P.M.) – Syria’s Permanent Representative to United Nations, Dr. Bashar Al-Ja’afari, accused Turkey of mass deploying their troops inside of Syria during the Astana Peace Conference on Friday.

During his speech at the peace conference, the veteran Syrian diplomat accused Turkey of deploying more than 10,000 soldiers and 166 tanks inside of northern Syria.

The Syrian diplomat highlighted the fact that the Turkish troops were acting as occupation force within a sovereign nation, adding that they were illegally inside of Syria.

Turkey maintains that they’re conducting “anti-terror operations” in line with an agreement with Syria that was established in the late 1990s.

Syria, on the other hand, says the agreement is null and void because Turkey broke off diplomatic relations in 2012.

While both Syria and Turkey have acknowledged that they share some intelligence reports, both nations have refused to move towards diplomatic rapprochement.

Ten thousand soldiers and 166 tanks is not a peacekeeping force, that’s an invasion.

35,000 in Cyprus and at least 40 tanks.
It has to cease, since Cyprus is EU territory, I’d even be positive with going further than negotiating. Turkey doesn’t gives a fück about diplomacy.
It’s high time to push them out, first starting with sanctions and if not enough, manu-militari.
And it’s a pity we banned cluster-bombs and napalm… Stupid pseudo human-rights activists, they’re near as dangerous as our enemies, I even ask myself who is funding these NGOs…
A single CBU-105 demolishes 40 tanks/vehicles, a single Rafale or Typhoon can easily carry 20 (420kg/unit)… Once deprived from vehicles, any invasion is in total mess.

They weren’t supplied from US surplus : KSA bought 15,000 TOW and 750 launchers in 2014 and were distributed courtesy of Bandar bin Sultan (who was hopefully fired in 2015). You didn’t thought USA would dilapidate $1.1 billion for them, did you?
Note that many may have been secretly bought by Turkey from Egypt under the Morsi regime since Egypt license-builds TOW missiles.

+++ “Turks are now carrying out ethnic cleansing”
>>> They must fear drastic measures on them : they used to prefer genocide back in the good ‘ole days
