DAMASCUS, SYRIA (2:45 P.M.) – Militants of the Saudi-backed Jaysh al-Islam rebel group have reportedly set alight their military vehicles, tanks and heavy weapons before leaving their bastion to the country’s north as per a deal with the Syrian government.
The Salafist militiamen refused earlier to hand over their heavy weapons to the Syrian Army.
Local sources from inside Douma also reported heavy shooting last night. This occurred as the militants began a rampage of shooting in the air in order to consume all ammo rather than leave it for the Syrian Army.
According to the recently-reached deal, Jaysh al-Islam rebel fighters will leave
Douma with only their light weapons i.e. AK- 47 assault rifles with only one loaded cartridge case.
