Yesterday, the US Virginia State Senate member Richard Black visited the ancient ancient of Palmyra which was recaptured by the Syrian Arab Army(SAA) exactly 30 days ago.

The US senator was said to have traveled to Damascus during the parliamentarian elections and decided to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Tadmur in eastern Homs.

During his stay, Mr Black visited the Governor of Homs Talal al-Baraz and spoke with several leading religious figures while also visiting a church in downtown Homs.

Despite ISIS lurking in the oil rich Homsi desert not far east of Palmyra, Russian sappers have cleared thousands of mines, thus enabling many residents to return to their hometown.

Senator Black is also the famous author of the “Assad letter” in which he praised the SAA’s efforts in defending Syria’s Christian inhabitants.

At talks with Syrian officials during his three-day trip, Senator Black was quoted as saying: “I will be the voice of Syria in the United States”.

Technically a state senator. U.S. Senators are in Washington on behalf of their constituents.
