Yesterday, the Islamic State initiated a lengthy battle with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and National Defence Forces (NDF) at the village of Jubb al-Jarah in eastern Homs.
ISIS forces mobilized 3 armored vehicles and approximately 40 fighters in the assault on the government-held village. With firefights raging throughout Monday, the attack was finally foiled by the SAA and NDF as neither side yielded any territorial gains.

The desert area between Jubb al-Jarah and Palmyra holds several lucrative oil wells which ISIS and the SAA have been fighting over since 2014.
