Yesterday, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) liberated the strategic city of Qaryatayn from ISIS, thus forcing its militants to flee into the Homsi deserts of Syria. This capture comes as the Islamic State also lost Palmyra to Syrian government troops last week.
These gains will now improve the logistical situation for the Syrian government which will be able to open some roadways in the Palmyra-Homs-Damascus triangle which is connected through Qaryatayn.
