The Saudi regime pledged $50 million (U.S.) to the Somalian government in order to have them cut all diplomatic ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
On January 12th, the Somalian regime ordered the Iranian embassy to leave the country within 72 hours after they received $50 million from the Al-Saud family.
Somalia declared that their relations with Iran were strained after the latter “meddled” with their affairs inside the country.
Iran worked vigorously to assist Somalia following their long-standing civil war that crippled the country and damaged the economic infrastructure.
Saudi Arabia and Somalia enjoy close relations and membership in the Arab League.
The Somalian regime declined to comment in regards to the large sum of money they received from the Al-Saud family.
