BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:05 A.M.) – A disgruntled asylum seeker has set fire to people at bank in the southeast Australian state of Victoria. The attack was caught on CCTV, the footage of which has just been released to the public in the last hour.
The event occurred during November last year in the city of Melbourne (the capital of Victoria) at a Commonwalth Bank in the suburb of Springvale.
According to reports, the asylum seeker – a Myanmar native by the name of Nur Islam – was apparently unhappy with being forced to wait for an extended period of time in order to make a transaction and in an ensuing rage took it upon himself to set the bank, and the people in it, on fire.
As a result of the attack, 33 people were injured (four seriously) and about $3 million dollars worth of damage done to the bank. Mr. Islam himself received burns to about sixty percent of his body.
In court, Mr. Islam has been charged with intentionally causing serious injury, conduct endangering life and criminal damage.
