BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:30 P.M.) – Several Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers were killed on Saturday morning when a jihadist rebel detonated his suicide belt in northeastern Daraa.

According to a military source in the town of Izra’a, the jihadist rebel detonated his suicde belt during an army raid on his group’s hideout in the town of Mlihit Al-Atash.

The military said the jihadist sleeper cell was loyal to the terrorist group Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, who once controlled much of northeastern Daraa.

Following their defeat at the hands of the Syrian Arab Army, the jihadist rebels either fled to southern Daraa or went into hiding around the Al-Lajat Plateau region.

Since the conclusion of the Daraa battle, the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and other militant groups have used their sleeper cells to wreak havoc inside this governorate.
