BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:45 P.M.) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) seized a massive weapons cache that was abandoned by the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) in the eastern region of the Euphrates River Valley.

According to the official media wing of the Syrian Democratic Forces, their troops uncovered this large weapons cache while combing through the recently captured town of Baghouz in the eastern countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

The Syrian Democratic Forces reportedly captured hundreds of assault rifles, a Metis ATGM launcher, missiles, and ammunition that were all left behind by the Islamic State this week.

Below is the video of the weapons cache that was seized by the Syrian Democratic Forces this weekend:

This will help the expansion as SDF forces. Especially the heavy mortars and artillery they captured elsewhere.

Shopping list SDF post IS : Helicopters, heavier apc’s, some heavy artillery and for defense against turks manpads and ATGM’s. And basic equipmenf for say an extra 30k fighters.

We will see how much of that list they will get.

Nope, not ManPADS : most don’t work over 10,000ft! Gunship choppers can fly over it and AW-129 can carry 72 CIRIT laser guided 70mm rockets or loads of 8.5kg guided bombs. Go for Iron Dome, 2nd hand Patriot PAC-3 loaded with the Stuner interceptor (10x cheaper than a classic Patriot missile), courtesy of Rafael. Choppers sux. Go COIN aircraft for air support e.g. Air-Tractor AT802U may not be very fast, it carries near as much payload as a Su-25 and loiters for 8 hours while striking from out of ManPADS range. AT802U costs 8-9x less than a AH-64 and the… Read more »

I thank you for your sarcasm. Glad to get an expert answer. The krg has helicopters, movies available, so your implied comment does not matter. US is ackowledging its debt to the SDF, some of their limits might shift, as they did before. They need there to be a credible repellent against Turkey. Either themselves, uniformed allies, an enforced no fly zone, or arming SDF. As SDF is transforming itself into a regular army, they can take on more sophisticated arms.

Political will is another matter.

@Daeshbags-Sux, you would need a serious military budget for any of Your dreams.

The YPG need allies that can cover them from the air and sufficient amounts of simple to use tank stoppers.

The Sultan has a conscript army with a purged specialist class and wants to be elected again. 😀

@Karel, The Sultan has about Holland’s military budget.

The SDF can only beat that with defensive or asymmetric tactics.

And they need a no fly zone – else another Afrin looms.

In fact, he has a larger budget as we pay our soldiers real wages. Not like the conscripts from Anatolia and from the West btw as turks in the west are drafted too. Most of those buy themselves out of the draft or a short version of one month, planting trees or the like, after paying a fine of some € 5k. Only the poor are drafted, like the kurds, to be abused by turk officers and fellow draftees. Scores of kurdish young commit suicide during their draft. We should reactivate our draft and take away dutch nationality of anyone… Read more »

@Karel, he only can spend more on military hardware.

p.s. But what is the use if You have only semi-trained Anatolian donkey drivers to ruin Leopard IIs in Kurdish ambushes?
