With ISIS militants inside the city giving up hope on their siege being lifted after several failed ISIS offensives and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) attempting to minimize civilian casualties in the wake of brutal urban fighting, news broke out about ISIS and the SDF negotiating a relocation treaty.
The remaining ISIS militants hope to be transported to Al Maskanah Plains or Raqqa where they’ll link up with the rest of their comrades and commanders. It is notable to say that ISIS has suffered huge losses that include some of their most high-ranking commanders including the Emir of Manbij.
Fighting has not been more merciful for the predominantly Kurdish SDF who have witnessed their fair share of casualties as they push further inside the city. IEDs, VBIEDs, mines, and snipers have complicated the battle hugely exposing civilians to grave danger.
Such a treaty will ensure safety to one of Aleppo’s largest civilian populations, and will be a major blow to ISIS who will have lost their most major hub for the recruitment of foreign fighters.
