The U.S. backed “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) have reportedly captured 40 villages from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in the Al-Hasakah Governorate’s southern countryside after a series of violent clashes along the main road from the Iraqi city of Mosul to the terrorist group’s stronghold of Al-Shadadi.

According to media activists from the predominately Kurdish “People’s Protection Units” (YPG), the SDF officially cutoff the ISIS forces from their Iraqi capital (Mosul) to their last stronghold in the Al-Hasakah Governorate.

The SDF is currently attacking the remaining villages that are under ISIS’ control in the Al-Shadadi countryside; however, reports of ISIS reinforcements arriving to the city have been posted by the terrorist group’s social media activists.

If Al-Shadadi is liberated by the SDF, then ISIS will be in a serious trouble in the neighboring Deir Ezzor Governorate, as the U.S. backed rebel group will be within striking distance of the provincial border.
