BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:45 P.M.) – The Islamic State (ISIS) forces attempted to reverse the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) recent gains in the western countryside of Palmyra after losing large chunks of territory near the Hayyan Gas Fields.
ISIS began their counter-offensive by storming the area north of the Hayyan Gas Company site; this would ultimately result in a series of clashes with the Syrian Arab Army that lasted for several hours on Friday.
The Syrian Arab Army would ultimately foil this terrorist offensive, asserting full control over the Islamic State’s attacking points after a fierce battle.
According to a Russian reporter at the scene of the Islamic State offensive, the Syrian Arab Army were able to kill at least 16 terrorist combatants, while also destroying one T-55 tank north of the Hayyan Gas Company.
The Russian reporter also added that the Islamic State is experiencing shortages in manpower and equipment, which will ultimately lead to their collapse in western Palmyra.
