BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:00 A.M.) – King Salman of Saudi Arabia accused the Islamic Republic of Iran on Monday of sponsoring terrorism in many countries across the region.
Speaking at a Shura Council meeting in Riyadh on Monday, the 82-year-old King said that Iran was purposely creating chaos to devastate the Middle East region.
“The Iranian regime has always intervened in the internal affairs of other countries, sponsored terrorism, created chaos and devastation in many countries in the region,” King Salman said, as quoted by the Reuters News Agency.
King Salman encouraged the international community to step up their efforts to end the Iranian nuclear program because it threatens the security and stability of the Middle East.
“The international community has to work to put an end to the Iranian nuclear program and stop its activities that threaten security and stability,” he told the Shura Council.
In response to criticism against Saudi Arabia’s interference in the Yemeni Conflict, King Salman said that it is his nation’s duty to support the exiled regime of ‘Abd Rubbah Mansour Hadi and his supporters.
“Our standing by Yemen was not an option but a duty to support the Yemeni people in confronting the aggression of Iranian-backed militias,” he added.
