BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:55 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army has broken through ISIS lines on the embattled Euphrates island of Sakr, managing to liberate the rump of it in the wake of a advance rapid advance undertaken since this morning.

Today, vanguard units of the Syrian Army renewed their offensive on Sakr Island, striking at ISIS defenses near the strategic Al-Nahjel hill which was identified to be the nexus of the terrorist group’s battle lines.

In an attempt to repel the Syrian Army, ISIS hurled a large car bomb at advancing army  forces, however, Syrian soldiers, made aware of the incoming suicide attack well in advance, managed to destroy the device before it reached them.

As of the present time, the Syrian Army has liberated no less than 80 percent of Sakr Island and is still on the offensive.

Whether ISIS fights for the remaining 20 percent of the island still under its control or chooses to make a withdrawal from this strategic area is yet to be seen.
