The Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican (Al-Harss Al-Jamhouri Al-Souri) is within 60 meters of the strategic Central Bridge on the border of Zamalka in the Jobar District. The 105th Brigade was able to capture multiple building blocks in the vicinity of the bridge, killing scores of militants during the operation.
According to a military source, the area around the Central Bridge is believed to be surrounded by mines that Jaysh Al-Islam fighters setup to obstruct the 105th’s advance. The Syrian Air Force is assisting the 105th with the constant bombardment of Jaysh Al-Islam positions in order to give shelter to the advancing troops. If the SAA captures the bridge, Jaysh Al-Islam will be completely cutoff from all supply routes.
Earlier today, a car bomb was detonated outside of a building in Douma that killed the son of Jaysh Al-Ummah leader, Ahmad Taha (AKA “Abu Subhi”). Subhi Taha and Hassan Taha (Ahmad Taha’s associate) were both identified among the dead in Douma; the list also included 3 civilians. Jaysh Al-Islam leader, Zahran Alloush, was believed to be the primary culprit for this terrorist attack.
