DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:05 P.M.) – The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces in Syria has issued an official statement announcing the liberation of 5800 km2 of lands from ISIS in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor.
“The Armed Forces in Deir Ezzor, backed by Syrian Air Force, continue to oust the Islamic State organization from Badiya region, securing 5800 km2 swathes of land”, the statement read.
“Our brave soldiers have destroyed ISIS bastions, headquarters and jihadists in different axes and frontlines all the way to administrative borders of Homs governorate”, it added.
The statement also highly praised the exceptional competencies of Syrian Army soldiers which eventually resulted in cleansing the Syrian Desert up to the Iraqi borders, and smashing the Islamic State terror group.
The military operations in the Desert primarily aim at securing the Albu Kamal-T2 Station-Mayadin triangle where ISIS sleeper cell used to conduct hi-an-run attcks against the Syrian forces.
