BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:10 P.M.) – The Russian military launched a powerful attack against the militants in the East Ghouta, tonight, targeting the heavily fortified positions of Jaysh Al-Islam near the towns of Al-Shifouniyah and Hawsh Dawahra.

According to an Al-Masdar field correspondent, the Russian Aerospace Forces conducted their first airstrikes against the Islamist rebels since the UN Security Council unanimously adopted the resolution for a 30 day ceasefire in the East Ghouta.

The field correspondent added that the Russian Aerospace Forces launched a total of eight airstrikes over the towns of Al-Shifouniyah and Hawsh Dawahra.

In the coming days, the Syrian Army is expected to once again storm the Hawsh Dawahra-Shifouniyah axis in order to expel the Islamist rebels from this imperative area in the East Ghouta region.
