BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:10 A.M.) – The Russian Air Force began bombing the eastern countryside of the Idlib Governorate this weekend, striking the Al-Qaeda linked Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham terrorist group around the strategic Abu Dhuhour Military Airport.
Russian jets flying out of the Hmaymim Airfields in Jableh launched more than 20 airstrikes in eastern Idlib, yesterday, bombing the Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham terrorist repeatedly at the Abu Dhuhour Airport.
These airstrikes by the Russian Air Force come just days after the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies began their offensive in the northeastern countryside of the Hama Governorate.
The goal of this offensive is to seal the Hama-Aleppo axis, while also building a large buffer-zone west of the Ithriya-Khanasser Highway; this is the Syrian government’s main supply route to Aleppo City.
Once the Syrian Army takes control of Al-Rahjan (HTS stronghold), the Syrian Army will turn their attention to the southern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate and the eastern part of Idlib.
