BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:45 P.M.) – Pro-government forces, on the ground and in the air, remain staunchly committed to their offensive operation in northeast Hama Governorate, initiating late yesterday a new wave of attacks aimed at driving Al-Qaeda-linked militants from the region.

Last night, the Russian warplanes carried out more than twenty airstrikes over the skies Hama and Idlib provinces, targeting Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham positions and bases with a combination of fuel-air and high-explosive bombs.

In northeast Hama, militants were struck at the towns of Rahjan, al-Qariyah and Um Mayyal, Furthermore, jihadist rebels in southeast Idlib’s Sinjar region also found themselves on the receiving end of Russian air munitions which severely complicated their ability to move forces and supplies towards Hama.

At the present time, the units of the Syrian Arab Army, the National Defence Forces and the Qalamoun Shield Forces are preparing a new assault which they hope will result in the liberation of Rahjan, al-Qariyah and Um Mayyal.

Should this be achieved, then pro-government forces will find themselves in a strong position to finally advance into Idlib province for further operations towards the Abu Duhur military airport.
